***How do we know it’s from the Moon? ***

Our moon has a very thin atmosphere, making it vulnerable to impacts. When asteroids encounter these celestial bodies (which happens frequently), fragments eject from the impact and occasionally make their way into Earth’s orbit. If the stone survives its cataclysmic entry into Earth, it lands on the ground and becomes known as a meteorite. If fortunate enough to be discovered (usually by teams of Meteorite hunters), the stone is offered to us and we remove a 20 gram sample and provide it to one of the top scientists in the field of Meteoritics to be studied. Using microscopic (thin sections), chemical, and isotopic analysis, scientists compare the stone’s composition to known planetary materials.  Its origin is then determined and plotted based on the comparison of its compositional property to the lunar stones returned to Earth by NASA's Apollo astronauts. From there, meteorites make their way into museums, universities and to the general public all around the world.

***How do we acquire the dust?***

The dust within your ring is the byproduct of slicing scientifically studied and certified Lunar meteorites. We sanitize the collection basin under the saw and provide the residual dust to be used for a number of different applications - from art, jewelry, guitar builders and simply for displaying.
