TASSÉDET 004 H5 Melt Breccia Meteorite - WHOLE STONE - Interior Is A River Of Molten Metal! From An Asteroid - 97.8g

 Impact-melt breccias rank among the most complex-looking meteorites because their appearance depends on so many collision variables: the makeup, speed, and trajectory of the incoming body; the character and porosity of the target rock; and the size and amount of debris that survived without melting. The result is a remarkably expressive stone of planetary history.

This specimen formed when a violent collision in deep space—moving at incredible speeds—generated enough heat to liquefy part of its parent asteroid. The impact debris was later blasted free, drifted into an orbit that crossed Earth’s path, and ultimately came to rest in what is now Niger.

About H5 Melt Breccias:

H5 melt breccia chondrites are ordinary H-group meteorites that have been altered by powerful impacts on their parent asteroid. During these events, some of the rock was heated enough to melt, while other pieces stayed solid. As the melt cooled, it trapped these unmelted fragments inside a darker, finer-grained matrix, giving the meteorite a mixed, brecciated texture. They preserve both their original chondritic makeup and the record of the violent collisions that reshaped them.
